Technology is really cool, but….

Technology is really cool, but….

Remember the days when you would go to the airport and just sit there reading a book or a magazine? It was so simple yet very entertaining. Now we have a world of tech at our finger tips. Especially if you are willing to spring for $60 / month for smartphone Internet access. Right now I am typing this blog on my iPod touch (via wifi) while listening to my podcasts. While that is happening my blackberry is buzzing away with email notifications from work. Amazing! and dreadful.

One of the perks that came with airports and flights was the ability to UNPLUG from the rest of the world. I am tethered to my comminication devices. No longer is this a beak from the world. And it’s getting worse with airplane wifi access.

Early this fall Laura and I took a break and went to a coffee shop for a little snack. I intentionally left my blackberry at home. The level of relaxation achieved during that lunch was amazing. Not only was I more relaxed but Laura liked it as well. At that point I really noticed how this sort of thing really effect those around me.

Jack probably doesn’t even realize what it’s like to have a dad without a blackberry. Saying that leads me to my point. My new years resolution is to not only eliminate texting while driving from my list of bad habits but also to not constantly look at my blackberry while eating with my family or walking etc.

There that’s that and I will stick to it.

Feeling Good and Lovin’ Life

Today was the first day in a quite a while that I feel like I’m back in the rhythm. Holidays and vacation (not complaining) plus traveling for work and the a few voracious snow storms juggled up the routine.

Now I have been a home a few days and got things back in order. Mentally its probably very unhealthy to be so regimented but it seems to work for me and I feel very positive. I realize I should NOT let it bother me and I’m getting better at it. Must be cabin fever.

This morning I woke up around 4:15 and did a solid core routine followed by a 8 miler on the paths. I am in a totally perfect place right now. Perhaps its becaseu my family had a great evening. We tend not to watch much TV. We read and play games (yes video games like Wii and Guitar Hero) and do other family oriented activies and it realy make a person feel good. Talk about motivating.

What strange is that we do have all the things that people demonize. I drive a Jaguar in the winter and a Corvette in the summer. We have a hot tub home theater with a 110 screen and multiple rows of seats and have all the toys a person could want (PS3, 360, Wii blah blah blah). But really makes me happy is spending time with my family doing little stuff. Last night we spent about 1.5 hours color mandalas.

I don’t know, I’m just in a great place right now.

Time to make hashbrowns and bacon (turkey) for my boy as request right before bed. It’s the little things.

Oh yeah ……. DOMINATE!!!!!!!!!

Flyin’ to Kansas

On the flight headed to Kansas city MO. The ultimate destination is manhattan ks. We are going to be making product as a test.

This is my first day back to work after several days of vacation and the only solace is the fact that everyone here are in the same boat. Or plane as it were. I’ll be honest with you, it’s really tough for me to spend an entire week in the office. I like to break up the week with a little travel once and again. Getting on a plane on the first day back is perfect since it’s a very slow way to creep back into worklife.

Right now I’m on the plane flying southwest and using my favorite iPod app (Notepad). I’m listening to Leo and just learned the Google is gonna launch the Nexus 1 on Tuesday with tmobile.
