Ebisu – The Strange Attitude Corvette
After many years of wishing and dreaming, I have my Corvette. Ever since I was a little kid I have wanted one. My Dad’s friend had a few Sting Rays in his barn that were rarely driven. The second I set foot in that building I was amazed. I have stared at every single one that I passed on the highway since I could see out the car window.
My wife appreciates the fact I am very fond of this little slice of history. Last year she said, “If you build a shed for the lawn mower and pay off the Mustang you can get your Corvette.” That is all the encouragement I needed and the search began. First I started looking at one of my favorite cars of all time. The 1993 40th Anniversary Edition Ruby Red C4. I used to wash cars for a guy who had a few toys and the “Ruby” was one of them. I found it very difficult to find a decent “Ruby” in my price range that was not a project car. Plus my wife was not too excited about the body style of the C4. She liked the newer ones and the the older Sting Rays so do I.
Side Tracked – I actually considered buying a Porsche Boxster or a Porsche 911 when my search for a Corvette was not looking very promising. Both of these cars are very nice in their own right but are very different from a Corvette. Yes they are refined and elegant but do not have the roar and and torque I am looking for. Back to the Corvette.
Two weeks ago I called a dealer Janesville WI looking for my dream car. He hooked me up with a dude in Mt. Horeb who had a car that was similar to what I was looking for in terms of age and price. There was a few thing about that car that made it unique.
1. It was a Fixed Roof Coupe. That means the tops does not come off, about 4500 were made.
2. It was Speedway White. Only 311 White FRC were ever made.
3. Billy Boat Tri-Flow Route 66 Polished Stainless Exhaust (additional 18 HP)
4. Polished Chrome 2006 Z06 Wheels.
5. K&N Air Intake (additional 19 HP) I was a serious buyer.
Here are a series of pics documenting our trip up to Mt.Horeb to pick up this White Beast.
