I am so tired of hearing about 3D TVA and other displays! Most of you know that I am a serious home theather geek. I love the stuff I love the gadgets.
I listen to podcasts for about 10 – 15 hours a week whole running. Most of that is tech podcasts and all these guys have been talking bout since CES is 3D video. In my opion all of the 3D that was displayed was piss poor at best. I never liked 3D in the past and have yet to see anything that is remotely decent. Jack and I went to see Avatar and he liked it but it was moe of a gimmick if anything else.
I agree with most of the pundents . 3D is waste until they can actually do it right. It’s a waste until most users have 80 screens in their homes.
I say go for 4k high resolution. Now that’s an emmersive experience.
Technology is really cool, but….
Remember the days when you would go to the airport and just sit there reading a book or a magazine? It was so simple yet very entertaining. Now we have a world of tech at our finger tips. Especially if you are willing to spring for $60 / month for smartphone Internet access. Right now I am typing this blog on my iPod touch (via wifi) while listening to my podcasts. While that is happening my blackberry is buzzing away with email notifications from work. Amazing! and dreadful.
One of the perks that came with airports and flights was the ability to UNPLUG from the rest of the world. I am tethered to my comminication devices. No longer is this a beak from the world. And it’s getting worse with airplane wifi access.
Early this fall Laura and I took a break and went to a coffee shop for a little snack. I intentionally left my blackberry at home. The level of relaxation achieved during that lunch was amazing. Not only was I more relaxed but Laura liked it as well. At that point I really noticed how this sort of thing really effect those around me.
Jack probably doesn’t even realize what it’s like to have a dad without a blackberry. Saying that leads me to my point. My new years resolution is to not only eliminate texting while driving from my list of bad habits but also to not constantly look at my blackberry while eating with my family or walking etc.
There that’s that and I will stick to it.
